adis called “Cabécou de Rocamadour”, a small goat's cheese in Occitan, the AOC Rocamadour is one of the oldest products of the Causses du Quercy. In the 15th century, these small goat's palets were cited as sharecropping and tax value. Thus the tithe (the tax of the time) was fixed in cheese.
It is said that the Cistercian monks who lived in the Marian city discouraged men from eating meat and encouraged them to prefer cheese products.
They were thus the first promoters of our goat cheese.
Today Rocamadour has survived the ages and has become a benchmark for connoisseurs of goat cheese.
